God Must Dislike Mieczyslaw & Wlodimir Ledochowski’s Bloody Revenge for Bismarck’s Kulturkampf

as reflected by Poland's 2008 and 2010 electoral results

“God is cleansing Poland,”
he said.
“After this her [spiritual] light will shine on the world" - Maximilian Kolbe

From the blog “Strange Maps” of election results in Poland in 2008 and 2010

http://bigthink.com/ideas/21401

“Your map showing the electoral divide in Ukraine (#343) is quite interesting, and put me in mind of a similar one that I saw last year, that prompted me do a bit of map research,” writes David G.D. Hecht. “If you look at the Wikipedia article on the Polish legislative elections of 2007, there is a map there similar to the Ukrainian one. I looked at this map and thought, hmmm…where have I seen this divide before? Looks very familiar. This isn’t just some urban/rural, professional/worker, white-wine-and-brie/beer-and-sausages thing!”

Mr Hecht did some overlay work, and came up with this remarkable fit: “The divide between the (more free-market) PO and the (more populist) PiS almost exactly follows the old border between Imperial Germany and Imperial Russia, as it ran through Poland! How about that for a long-lasting cultural heritage?!?” How about: amazing, bordering on the unbelievable?

The Ukraine map isn’t the first example on this blog of electoral cartography showing older cultural divides. Map #330 demonstrates a correlation in the Southern US states between areas of intense cotton production in 1860 and counties voting for Obama in 2008. And map #108 shows the regional divides at issue in France during the 2007 presidential election. I am reminded of German artist Heinrich Böll (b. 1917 in Cologne), who once said that he could still sense the cultural difference between both banks of the Rhine, once the border between the Roman Empire and the barbarian hordes across the river.

The erasure of older borders doesn’t mean they totally disappear — the new map is a palimpsest, even if it sometimes has to be held up to the UV light of an election for those old, overwritten boundaries to reappear. But it is quite strange for an old border like the one between the Kaiser‘s Germany and the Czar‘s Russia to reappear on a Polish election map as recent as 2007. Poland has moved around the map of Europe quite a bit, most recently in 1945. Poland basically moved west, losing its eastern part to the Soviets and gaining the eastern part of Nazi Germany.

The losses and gains of territory were accompanied by huge movements of people, in numbers probably not seen since the Völkerwanderung at the collapse of the Roman Empire. Expropriated Germans moved west, as did Poles, who took their place. In the context of that momentous re-organising of the region’s ethnic composition, the palimpsest of the Imperial border, cutting Poland in half, seems improbable. And yet there it is, in an almost perfect fit. As I am not an expert in Polish politics, the history of Polish resettlement in the country’s new territories, or the putative phenomenon of cultural-historical anamnesis, I welcome all tentative explanations for this phenomenon.

Many thanks to Mr Hecht for producing and sending in this overlay map.

Meiczyslaw Ledochowski: of the devoutly Roman Catholic ‘Noble’ Ledochowski family, born October 29, 1822, who in December 1865 became Archbishop of Poznań and Gniezno and Primate of Poland (both cities then a part of the Prussian Province of Posen), and a figure famous for his conflict with Bismarck’s Prussia stance against the Roman Catholic Church’s political power following Pope – declaration of papal infallibility, and who was famously jailed by Bismarck’s government for nearly 24 months.

Accordingly, M Ledochowski became an increasingly potent influence at the Vatican:
“He spent two full years in prison before being liberated and sentence to exile, and he then proceeded to Rome where he lived as the honored guest, first of Pius IX and then of Leo XIII, exercising a potent influence at the Vatican. So much so, indeed, that before Bismarck would consent to a cessation of the so-called Culterkampf, he insisted that Cardinal Count Ledochowski should leave Rome and cease to be a member of the Pope’s immediate entourage.”
According to The New York Times, January 23, 1892, M Ledochowski was vengeful:
http://continuingcounterreformation.blogspot.com/2007/10/new-york-times-on-papacy-and-cardinal.html

http://query.nytimes.com/mem/archive-free/pdf?_r=1&res=9B07E3DA1738E233A25757C2A9679C94639ED7CF&oref=slogin

Ledochowski, that proud, imperious, and able Pole who made Bismarck such worlds of trouble in the old Kulturkampf day and who has been able to impose his will very often upon even the present Pope. This powerful man was in a German prison when Pius IX created him a Cardinal in 1875. Next year he was released and banished, and he has since lived in Rome, devoting his great wealth and talents to building up a militant Ultramontagne party about him. His wrath at the treatment he received at the hands of Bismarck has colored all his political views. He has hated both Germany and Italy and has looked unceasingly forward to the time when French bayonets should restore the temporal power of the Vatican in the old Roman States.

If we assume that this spirited and resolute prelate will shortly be ruling the Church through its nominal head, it becomes a most anxious question how he will accept the existing political conditions of Europe which have so radically changed since 1875. The new rulers of the Germans have been at pains to show their desire to abolish the last traces of the Kulturkampf. When the pending Prussian Education bill is passed, the German Catholics will be actually stronger than they were before the May laws. During the last half year these dispatches have frequently reflected the new interest which William and his immediate entourage are displaying in the Polish question. Of course a good deal of this has arisen naturally from the contemplation of the necessity of sooner or later fighting Russia: but even more it represents the effort to allure Ledochowski into friendship with Germany by an appeal to his national sentiment. How far this has successor will be, as has been said, a most anxious question.

In any event under this new regime there would be an abrupt cessation of pastorals on Socialistic and labor problems and of poems about St. Thomas Aquinas. We should instead see the Vatican boldly embark upon the troubled waters of European diplomacy, seeking alliances and taking desperate risks upon the fortune in the next war.
It was this vengeful and increasingly powerful Vatican official who became an increasingly important figure in the upbringing of his nieces and nephews following the death of his brother Antonil Ledochowski from small pox that he contacted from visiting his eldest daughter Marie Theresa in 1885. And it was the time that Maria Theresa, the second daughter Ursula, and the third sibling (and the first son) Wlodimir devoted their lives to the Roman Catholic Church.

Wlodimir, who eventually became the Jesuit Superior General, reportedly had a devotion dating back to his childhood regarding his uncle Mieczyslaw’s imprisonment by Bismarck’s Prussian led new 2nd Reich established in 1871:

From a Baltimore newspaper April 17, 1915
“When the new Black Pope was yet a lad he witnessed the persecution and imprisonment of his uncle, the late Cardinal Ledochowski , who had estates in German Poland, and whom Bismarck regarded with mingled fear and hatred of the persecuted Poles in Germany”

The idea of Germany’s ultimately being set up for defeat was in line with the Pope (with his doctrine of 'papal infallibility"):
On January 18th, 1874 -- thus on the anniversary of the founding of the German Reich -- he declared at an assembly of international pilgrims that Bismarck was the serpent in the paradise of mankind. This serpent seduced Germans into wishing to be more than god himself. Such an over extension of the human self would be followed by a humiliation such as no people had ever before tasted!

Only the Eternal one knew whether or not the grain of sand on the mountains of eternal retribution had already been released.

This retribution was growing to avalanche proportions and it would rush in a few years at the clay feet of this Reich and transform it into ruins. This Reich, which, like the tower of Babel, had been erected in defiance of god, would pass away to the glory of god.
Such Papal sentiment, resentful and vengeful, given the subsequent history, apparently flowed to Mieczyslaw’s nephew Wlodimir Ledochowki:

From Tupper Saussy:
http://continuingcounterreformation.blogspot.com/2007/06/wlodimir-vladimir-ledochowski-according.html
Wlodimir Ledochowski was a Polish aristocrat who by 1906 had demonstrated such exceptional skills in international diplomacy that Jesuit Superior General Franz Xavier Wernz (under whose tutelage Pacelli had done his prost graduate research in canon law) appointed him Consultor General for Germany, Austria-Hungary, Russia, Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia, and Poland, as well as Belgium and the Netherlands.

“Consultor General” is the equivalent of a cabinet post. It empowered Ledochowski to lace the future of his nations with alliances that lay buried like so many land-mines. This is not an unusual feat for a Jesuit strategist. Indeed, the Society of Jesus (which is the pope’s private CIA and veritable Mother of Spies) is renowned for “Orthelloizing” nations- setting them up for mutual destruction, as when Othello’s trusted but treacherous advisor Iago gloats to the audience, “Now whether he kills Cassio or Cassio him, or each do kill the other, every way makes my gain.”

(It’s foolish, in my opinion, not to suspect a covert military strategist of anything he has the authority, means, and requirement to do. To ignore him is to be conquered by his strategy, which is usually to foster ignorance of his most decisive operations.

Triggering World War

Most historians agree that the first World War was triggered by the Serbian Concordat of June 1914. Eugenio Pacelli was the Concordat's acknowledged author, but Vladimir Ledochowski had authority, means, and requirement to ghost it.

The Serbian Concordat promised (a) Vatican support of Serbia's liberation from Roman Catholic Austria-Hungary, while (b) pitting Roman Catholic evangelism against the Serbian state religion, Eastern Orthodoxy, a faith that denies the supremacy of the Roman papacy.

Such a policy was sure to provoke belligerency between Austria-Hungary and Serbia, just as Jesuit military strategy created enmity between America and Great Britain to incite a Revolution that resulted in the world's first republic governable by Roman Catholic laypersons. The underlying purpose of the Serbian Concordat, like the Declaration of Independence, was to restructure the world according to the requirements of Rome. What those requirements were we shall learn presently.

Four days after Eugenio Pacelli signed the Concordat, a Serbian terrorist assassinated the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne. Within weeks, nations with no more reason to make war than the alliances they had signed began outfitting their respective soldiery for what looked like Armageddon.

The Purpose of World War I

Immediately upon assuming his Generalate, Vladimir Ledochowski fled Rome (Austria, after all, was now at war with Italy) and set up office with two assistants in his mother's castle at Zizers, Switzerland. In 1917, Ledochowski invited Mathias Erzberger, a deputy from the German Catholic Center party, to Zizers for a secret meeting.

Erzberger later reported to friends that the General had persuaded him to support a strategy of destroying the unified Reich under the Protestant Kaiser Wilhelm II in order to bring the Catholic nations of central and eastern Europe together in a pan-German federation under a charismatic dictator charged with subduing the communist menace from the east. Dr. Hans Carossa, documenting the deputy's fact patterns after Zizers, observed that “Every political maneuver that Erzberger has engaged in since his discussion with the Jesuit General has only served to advance this Jesuit political strategy.” (Manfred Barthel, The Jesuits, William Morrow, p. 254-5)

Means A: The Lusitania

As much as Ledochowski needed to mobilize America against Germany, America was disinterested in European events. In fact, President Woodrow Wilson repeatedly declared that Europe's calamities were of absolutely no concern to Americans. But soon after Ledochowski ensconced in Zizers (locals pronounce it "Caesar's"), things started going his way. A German submarine sank the RMS Lusitania off the coast of Ireland with 128 Americans aboard. This act, wrote Jim Marrs in his study of clandestine governments (Rule By Secrecy, HarperCollins, 2000), “set off a firestorm of anti-German feeling throughout the United States, fanned by the Rockefeller-[J.P.] Morgan dominated press.” Marrs added that “Morgan was the Rothschilds' American representative—some say partner.” The house of Rothschild is bound by fiduciary duty to facilitate the Jesuit General's needs. According to Encyclopedia Judaica, the Rothschilds are “Guardians of the Vatican Treasury.” The Rothschild press used the Lusitania to foment hatred among Americans toward “the hideous Hun.” But a stunt even more dramatic was needed to secure a declaration of war.

Means B: The Zimmerman Telegram

War resulted from the famous Zimmerman Telegram, which the Rothschild press sensationally published in America on March 1, 1917. In the telegram, supposedly decoded by British interceptors, German foreign minister Arthur Zimmermann proposed to the German ambassador in Mexico a German-Mexican alliance against the United States in which Germany would support the Mexican recapture of territory in Texas, Arizona and New Mexico.

A German official talking secretly of invading Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico brought the war suddenly home

Normally, when the alleged proponent of such an explosive notion—true or not—is asked for verification, he follows good diplomatic form and categorically denies responsibility. Not Arthur Zimmermann. At a Berlin news conference on March 3rd, a reporter for the Hearst papers—which columnist George Seldes terms "the most pro-Catholic press in America”—caught Zimmermann's attention and stated: “Of course Your Excellency will deny this story.” Zimmermann replied, “I cannot deny it. It is true.”

Is this a script, or what?

Zimmermann's inexplicable admission (and shamefully unprofessional, unless done in obedience to the General or the Rothschilds) gave President Wilson no alternative but to ask Congress for precisely what Vladimir Ledochowski desired: a declaration that a state of war existed with Germany

Congress complied on April 6, the Guardians of the Vatican Treasury cranked out the credit (through the Rothschilds' brand new Federal Reserve), and over the next year and a half, more than 364,000 American lives were sacrificed (out of 4,355,000 mobilized) to Ledochowski's objective of destroying the Reich and replacing its Protestant Kaiser with a charismatic dictator.

Came Armistice Day, November 11, 1918, the Reich was devastated . The Kaiser had fled for the safety of Holland.

Power-drunk from overthrowing czarist Russia, Bolshevik mobs flying red flags overran Bavaria. All Munich's diplomatic legations returned to their home countries. The Vatican nunciature alone remained.

On June 28, 1919, the Allies presented the Treaty of Versailles for Germany to sign. The Diktat, as Germans called it (“dictated peace”), only perfected their devastation—forcing them to accept sole responsibility for the war, ripping great chunks of territory away from the Reich, and reducing German naval and military power to practically nil.

The moment had arrived for the introduction of Vladimir Ledochowski's “charismatic dictator."

He entered history at 15 Brienner Strasse late one blustery night during the winter following the Diktat...

Mission Accomplished

Sister Pascalina recalled the moment for her biographers, Paul Murphy and Rene Arlington (La Popessa, Viking, 1983).

The nunciature was asleep. Pascalina heard knocking at the door. She answered to find a young Austrian soldier standing there, a corporal and a Catholic, bearing a letter of introduction from a leading Bavarian politician citing him for acts of bravery during the war.

Pascalina issued the young man into the sitting room and awoke Archbishop Pacelli. Their meeting went fast. The soldier vowed to check the spread of atheistic communism in Munich and elsewhere.

Pascalina heard Pacelli say, “Munich has been good to me, so has Germany. I pray Almighty God that this land remain a holy land, in the hands of Our Lord, and free of communism.”

She then saw Pacelli give the soldier “a large cache of Church money to aid the rising revolutionary and his small, struggling band of anticommunists.”

“Go, quell the devil's works,” the archbishop told him. “Help spread the love of Almighty God.”

Sister Pascalina never forgot the young soldier's face or his name—Adolf Hitler.

The circumstances of Wlodimir Ledochowski’s ascent to the Black Papacy -- namely the statistically unlikely day apart sudden deaths of his predecessor, 25th Jesuit Order Superior General Franz Wernz, and Pope Pius X in August 1914, just weeks after WWI’s outbreak -- suggests a power struggle by an entity with a deeper counter reformation agenda, perhaps too extreme for some within the Vatican to support, and hence cloaked.

That war would end with, amongst other things, the re-emergence of the Polish state after being wiped off the map in 1795. Perhaps Wlodimir Ledochowski enticed Wernz and Pius X with the idea of what became WW1 with Germany defeating Russia and hence liberating the part of Poland under Russian rule, with the secreted idea of Germany then being defeated in order to give Posen (Poznan) back to Poland.

Yet other goals, consistent with the idea of extending Rome’s power, though perhaps too extreme for others to support, would require a second such war. Hence say Ledochowski would plan WW1 with such people, he would not rely upon their support for such a second such agenda stage, and hence have to have both killed to pursue his goals as the 26th Jesuit Order Superior General via his 20th century continuation of the counter reformation. As such, Wlodimir Ledochowski continued with steering nations during WWI.

From Frank O’Collins

Few have probably heard of this Jesuit Superior General. But this man, more than any other can claim something so evil, few can match it- in being the brains behind the starting of not one, but two world wars- WWI and WWII. History books in large part deliberately misdirect us to the actual starting events and following up battles of war, the heroes, the villains and who eventually wins.
But as many readers know, war is much more than simply killing people- it is also about making money- financing war and building weapons as it is about power- who loses control and infrastructure – who changes the influence of cultures and other religions. World War I was as much about the War of Princes vs the Jesuits, then its timing and results make sense. Prior to World War I, the European monarchies were back on the ascendancy. But these same royal families were the ones who destroyed the Jesuits in the 18th Century. The Jesuits had never forgotten, nor had the Papacy against the intrusion into Papal affairs of a more confident ruling class.
It was Ledochowski who played an instrumental part in helping arrange the chess board so that by the end of World War I, many of the Catholic and Protestant Monarchies were destroyed. But his most elaborate evil was to be seen in the meticulous events leading up to World War II. In finding a close ally in Pope Pius XII, the Papacy and Jesuits for the first time in three hundred years become once again as one- planning the total destruction of the remaining power of Protestantism in Europe- the last war of Reformation.

A slice of Europe Illustration: Religious Situation in Central Europe
about a century after the start of Martin Luther’s Reformation
(Calvinists RED; Lutherans PINK; Roman Catholics BLUE)

It was Ledochowski’s Roman Catholic religious war, as I initially posted in June, 2007:
Target certain groups of people, such as people who are educated, Jewish, Orthodox or Protestant, particularly Lutherans from eastern Germany.

Set up a chain of events culminating in bloody wars targeting all of these groups, with 10s if not 100s of millions of deaths. In other words, figure out an evil gigantic game of pinball if you will.

Set this into motion by setting up evil governments, government entities and government leaders, particularly the 3rd Reich, the SS and Adolph Hitler, and the USSR and the KGB and Joseph Stalin.

Make sure that key events, along with all of the major players, are manipulated for the desired outcome, including perhaps even your fellow Jesuits, who may not necessarily know your objective[s].

In this case of geo political religious chessboard, that meant a Germany starting a brutal war against civilians, which it would lose.
Indeed, note the timing of Wlodimir Ledochowski’s death, on Decmeber 13, 1912- a mere 24 days after the war turned at Stalingrad with the start of the USSR counteroffensive on November 19, 1942, with reports of him having gastro-intestinal difficulties.

Though written in 1934 for his spiritual soldiers of the far flung Militia, an article entitled “Our War” sums up the message that consumed so much of Kolbe’s energy between 1936 and 1939. In it he says:

Don’t set out to do your own works for God, however great these might be, but give yourself humbly into his hands to do his works.

Accept all that happens as his will, including the sufferings he permits (not causes) you to undergo at the hands of evil men, knowing that even these will mysteriously enrich you.

As embers of the spiritual army fighting under the generalship of Mary, give yourself to God through service to her. To be one in will with Mary of the great fiat, the only human being whose will has never deviated by her choice from God’s, is to be perfectly united to the will of God. And it is this alignment of your will with his that is the pressing business of your life.

Offering yourself totally to God, let him transform you into a knight of love who, with others, will conquer the whole world, not in the sense of capturing it, but of freeing it.

He ends this article by saying that when each Militia member is “set aflame with the fire of divine love (I repeat we are not talking here of sweet tears and feelings, but if the will) … melted (and) fused to God … we will melt the whole world and each individual in it with love.”

And at p 107:
http://continuingcounterreformation.blogspot.com/2007/08/from-man-for-others-maximilian-kolbe.html
Brother Arnold may be right in thinking that Father Maximilian, in talking about his mystical experience in Japan, was buoying his own spirits. Equally possible is that he was trying to prepare Brother Arnold for those moments – and beyond them – when the distraught young secretary would try to follow his spiritual father into the Gestapo’s car.

Brother Cyprian said Father Maximilian’s “seraphic and ardent” love of God was visible in his conversation and in the conferences he gave the Brothers. Certainly it was this love that permitted him to look at Poland’s tragedy as others could not. In March 1938, before most people thought of a war, he had said to the Brothers:

During the first centuries, the Church was persecuted. The blood of martyrs watered the seeds of Christianity. Later, when the persecutions ceased, one of the Fathers of the Church deplored the lukewarm ness of Christians. He rejoiced when persecutions returned. In the same way, we must rejoice in what will happen, for in the midst of trials our zeal will become more ardent. Besides, are we not in the hands of the Blessed Virgin? Is it not our most ardently desired ideal to give our lives for her? We live only once. We die only once. Therefore, let it be according to her good pleasure. [!!!]

Once war came, he did not change his tune:

“God is cleansing Poland,” he said. “After this her [spiritual] light will shine on the world.”

According to Richard Whitehall's page 95 cite of the book

"Rex Germanorum, Populos Sclavorum: An Inquiry into the Origin & Early History of the Serbs/Slavs of Sarmatia, Germania, & Illyria" by Ivo Vukcevich
"In World War II, it should be noted, Moslem leaders placed the blame the crusading war and genocide against the Serbs and the chaos in Bosnia squarely on the shoulders of the Austro-Polish 'Black Pope,' Wladimir Ledochowski, Superior General of the Jesuits, who, perhaps inspired by deranged visions of a divine Polish mission, appears to have supported Roman Catholic crusade against schismatics in eastern and southeastern Europe."

http://continuingcounterreformation.blogspot.com/2007/12/wlodimir-vladimir-ledochowski-era-no.html

There seemed, indeed, during those years of Ledochowski, Pope Pius XI, and Pius XII, no real limit to what both Jesuitism and overall Roman Catholicism could achieve. Even – especially, we should say – in the afterglow of Ledochowski’s long reign and into the Generalate of his successor, Belgian Jean-Baptise Janssens, the magic power of momentum seemed to continue.

P 221 The Jesuits: The Society of Jesus and the Betrayal of the Roman Catholic Church

Dr. Nicholas Murray Butler, who met Father Ledochowski in 1930, wrote later that "everyone in Rome I was told that Father Ledochowski would rank as one of the two or three greatest heads of the Jesuit Order," an estimate which would group him with such men as Ignatius Loyola, [April 19, 1541 to July 31, 1556] the first [Jesuit] general, Francisco Borgia, [July 2, 1565 to October 1, 1572] the third, and [Claudius] Aquaviva, [Feb 19, 1581 to Jan 31, 1615] the fifth.

And according to Malachi Martin:

http://continuingcounterreformation.blogspot.com/2007/09/wlodimr-vladimir-ledochowski-last-of.html

It was during the twenty-seven year Generalate of Father Wlodzimierz Ledochowski (1915-1942) that the traditional character of the Society received the firmest stamp and clearest definition since the Generalate of Claudio Acquaviva in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. One might even say that Ledochowski insisted on fidelity to the structure of Jesuit obedience, was an almost merciless disciplinarian, and maintained a stream of instructions flowing out to the whole Society about every detail of Jesuit life and Ignatian ideals. He know exactly what Jesuits should be according to the Society’s Constitutions and traditions; and under strong hands of two quite authoritarian Popes, Pius XI and Pius XII, he reestablished the close ties that had once linked papacy and Jesuit Generalate. Ledochowski, in fact, gave renewed meaning to that old Roman nickname of the Jesuit Father General, “the Black Pope. Just as Pius XII can be described as the last of the great Roman Popes, so Ledochowski can be called the last of the great Roman Generals of the Jesuits.

p 221 Malachi Martin, The Jesuits: The Society of Jesus and the Betrayal of the Roman Catholic Church

That he remains such an obscure figure, ignored usually even by the Jesuits is consistent with the unpleasantness of the reality.
