During the night of December 16, 1773, a gang of Indians climbed aboard certain ships in Boston Harbor, ripped open three hundred forty two of the East India Company’s tea chests and threw overboard their contents, valued at $90,000. Well, they looked like Indians, and witnesses thought they were Indians, but the big open secret was that they were Freemasons in disguise. Perhaps the most succinct statement on the subject appears in respected Masonic historian Arthur Edward White’s New Encyclopedia of Freemasonry: “The Boston Tea Party was entirely Masonic, carried out by members of the St. John’s Ledge during an adjourned meeting.”

Parliament reacted to the Boston Tea Party in a way calculated to increase dozens of rolling boulders into a devastating landslide. Without seriously inquiring into who was responsible, and wholly disregarding the offer of more than a hundred Boston merchants to make restitution, Parliament rushed in to law a mass of unreasonably punitive legislation – closing the port of Boston to trade, forbidding town meetings without consent of the governor, denying the Massachusetts’s council, providing for the quartering of British and Hessian troops in the colony, and ordering that any officer or soldier of the Crown accused of an act of violence in the performance of his duty should be sent to another colony or to England for what would surely be a sweetheart trial.

This is something to think about with the 2009-2010 ‘Tea Party’.

It exists in the name of respecting the Constitution.

And it names itself after an event, crafted by masons, and named for an agricultural commodity.

Okay.

Yet what does it say about the criminal mercantilism drug war?

One must ask this, because within the U.S. entities which claim to support the constitution, actually support its subversion when induced to accept some sort of ends justify the means mentality- supposedly okaying this for things that are just soooooooooooo bad….

Thinking About the Tea Party

What does it say about the such things as police raids as this barging into people’s homes placing their lives in danger for the sake of a false ‘morality’ of arresting, prosecuting, fining and/or imprisoning consumer choice (hence debasing the police and the courts), especially when promoting drug abuse in two main ways:

- profitizing un-labeled, adulterated concentrated drugs,
banning Vin Mariani perverting cocaine use to the concentrated forms of the drug;

- doing that for the sake of protecting cigarettes and pharmaceuticals

It is all about: CRIMINAL MERCANTILISM.

Where's even a mention of the sociopathic hypocrisy of jurisdictions, particularly that with its routine “the ends justify the means” testilying for such things as suppressing Cannabis, and its concentration of industries in adulterated, misbranded cigarettes- the Commonwealth of Virginia..

Why might that be?

Particularly when the term ‘tea party’ clearly conveys a higher then likely awareness of the general concept of an agricultural commodity.





The crusade against coca – via demonizing the alkaloid cocaine regardless of concentration – came through the U.S.D.A., just after experimenting with coca and other medicinal agricultural commodities in Washington, D.C. to ascertain their potential for commercial production within the U.S., and just after Angelo Francois Mariani was awarded a gold Papal medal by the Vatican as a 'benefactor of humanity' for rendering Vin Mariani to the world.

Bad advice IMHO not required by the 1906 U.S. Pure Food and Drug Act that fed the popular misconception then being promoted by the likes of William Randolf Hearst that cocaine was intrinsically dangerous regardless of the dosage.

Sales of cigarettes of Virginia Bright Leaf, which initially jumped in the 1880s with the development of automated mass rolling machines, have three subsequent successive up-turns in use in 1907, 1915 and 1936, respectively following the 1906 Pure Foods and Drugs Act, the 1914 Harrison Narcotics Act, and the 1930s prohibitions of Cannabis (Marijuana, or "Marihuana")

Wiley, was tremendously puffed by Hearst, often with the writer Samuel Adams Hopkins.

Hearst, who was a member of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (SMOM), was later influential in demonizing Cannabis – "Marihuana" – used for market protection and to increase the police state.

Using the edit-find command I would find neither the word 'drug' nor 'war' anywhere within.

So 'core principles' of 'fiscal responsibility', 'limited government' and 'free markets' somehow sanctions the drug war, and apparently the wasteful murderous wars overseas- all breeding their problems to fight continuously?

That the same drug 'laws' pervail in all of the nations of the world protecting cigarettes, stands as a mute testimony to the reality of a veiled shadow government behind the scenes directing the visible 'leaders' as their puppets, and thus a central point for the introduction of so many bad things.

It was found to be an effective and safe product, endorsed by prestigious medical doctors for a variety of uses, starting as a vocal aid for opera performers. Its uses included that as a treatment for addictions to Opium, alcohol and even Tobacco. In Paris, Mesureur, the French Ex-Minister of Commerce, and the current (in 1910) Director of Hygiene and Public Health, who approved and signed the French government's radical poster campaign against alcoholism, would state that:

The amount of cocaine was absorbed slowly, resulting in a relatively long lasting effect that ebbed away gently without depressive rebound or craving- as seen with cocaine in concentrated doses- hence it did not produce addictive toxic-mania behavior. Furthermore, because cocaine is a powerful anesthetic, its consumption in this oral dilute form discouraged excessive consumption as this anesthetic action would numb one’s stomach, reducing one’s appetite for more.

The negative effects of concentrated cocaine were observed shortly after its commercial introduction about 1884, particularly with its administration via subcutaneous injection.

After three and half decades of Vin Mariani sale and use, its creator Angelo Mariani was summoned to the Vatican- ultimately twice. In January 1898, Pope Leo XIII issued Mariani a gold papal medal awarding him as a benefactor of humanity. In January 1904, Leo XIII’s successor Pope Pius X issued Mariani another such medal. It is not publicly known what exactly transpired between Mariani and the Vatican.

Yet within a few months, the political scene turned against Mariani and Coca with an apparent vengeance. In 1904, members of Roman Catholic orders as the Knights of Columbus Harvey Washington Wiley, an important figure in the American Medical Association, the American Pharmaceutical Association, the Chief of the Bureau of Chemistry at the USDA, and Knights of Malta member, publisher William Randolph Hearst began a crusade against cocaine in any form regardless of the concentration factor.

This crusade included denouncing Vin Mariani and Coca (and unpatentable herbs in general) as ineffective through the AMA, and in various newspaper articles published via Hearst via collaboration between Wiley, Hearst and a newspaper/magazine writer Samuel Adams Hopkins. It included an AMA/APhA campaign for “model” legislation through the various State legislatures to ban Coca products, and via Federal legislation as the so called Pure Food and Drugs Act of June 30, 1906 which did not necessarily ban Coca products, and provided a seemingly innocuous labeling requirement for cocaine and opiates, but which gave the USDA dictatorial powers to declare a substance “deleterious” and hence its inclusion in food products as “adulteration.”

With cocaine being so defined as deleterious – without regard to the amount or concentration – and with other such stimulants not included in the labeling requirement, placed Coca at a serious market disadvantage to Coffee and Tobacco- the latter which was excluded from such regulation by the 1906 Act’s definition of USDA authority over substances included in the US Pharmacopeia, from which Tobacco had been conveniently dropped during the preceding year- 1905! Though Coca/cocaine was still permitted in products marketed as drugs, the prescription requirement and the propaganda against it only further discouraged its commerce- all perhaps to the greatest benefit of the growing industry in Tobacco cigarettes.

Indeed, USDA documents throughout the following years would stress the concern of Coca’s use as a Tobacco habit cure, which zero mention of the relative health effects- e.g. Coca being non physically addictive and non carcinogenic, while Tobacco was more physically addictive then heroin and carcinogenic.

Notably the USDA had experimented with the commercial feasibility of growing Coca within the US cir 1904, and though I have not been able to locate any report, only a newspaper article, they would have found that it would require hothouses as Coca is a perennial shrub that can’t survive frost, while Tobacco is such a major US agricultural; commodity dating back to the 1600s, that its likeness with that of Corn adorns the tops of the columns of the US Capitol building in Washington, D.C.

The powerful interests that run the US government would lobby successfully to have Coca outright banned via a prescription requirement making it into today’s “controlled substance” by 1914 with the Harrison “Narcotic” Tax Act.

Although of dubious constitutionality – note that the US government had to pass a constitutional amendment to ban the manufacturer, transport and sale of alcoholic beverages – the Harrison Act’s prohibition via taxation was upheld by a compliant US Supreme Court , and acquiesced by a compliant population fed a William Randolph Hearst media campaign of double standards and lies- with its perversion of the market to concentrated cocaine the natural result of a prohibition banning herbal Coca and pure cocaine without regard to potency/concentration- promoting drug abuse and crime used to continually further the problem.

Such laws would be pushed worldwide via various US pushed “Opium” conferences/conventions, eventually repealing the various nation’s allowances for dilute Coca preparations through the 1920s, and later through the U.N.

The health results of this have been a disaster, particularly when we include the market protection for Tobacco/cigarettes, yet the Roman Catholic Church or any of the so-called “Protestant” churches apparently never lifted a finger to stop any of this madness.

For much of Europe's history, the Roman Catholic Church was fighting wars of destruction against many "heretical" sects. In many cases, these so-called heretics had rediscovered the herbal sacraments like mushrooms and cannabis, and were ruthlessly exterminated for their use of these powerful plants.

Some of these traditions of using psychoactive plants as sacraments survived for many centuries before finally being violently extinguished. For example, the magic mushroom eating Manicheans survived until the 12th century before finally being slaughtered by Catholic armies.

Most observers agree that the reason the Catholic Church hates psychoactive herbs is that these substances can create a sense of direct spiritual communion with the divine, while Catholic authority is based on the idea that the only way to reach God is with the Pope and priest as mediator.

The Inquisition

The Pope who launched the most vicious of the Catholic Church's many campaigns against herb users was Pope Innocent VIII (1432-1492). In 1484 he issued a papal bull called "Summis desiderantes" which demanded severe punishments for magic and witchcraft, which at the time usually meant the use of medicinal and hallucinogenic herbs. Indeed, the papal bull specifically condemned the use of cannabis in worship instead of wine.

The principles Pope Innocent VIII outlined became the basis for the terrifying and torturous witch-hunters' handbook, the Malleus Maleficarum (1487).

Further, Pope Innocent VIII was a major supporter of the vicious Inquisition, and in 1487 he appointed the infamous and sadistic Spanish friar Torquemada as Grand Inquisitor. Under Torquemada's authority, thousands of traditional female healers, users of forbidden plants, Jews, and other "heretics" were viciously tortured and killed during the "witch-hunts" of the Spanish Inquisition. This reign of terror gripped Europe well into the 17th Century.

Catholic Inquisitors tortured and killed many more in Central and South America, where peyote, ololiuqui and other sacred plants of the Aztec culture were prohibited as "works of the devil."

(Ironically, while the Church was slaughtering cannabis users in Europe, the Spanish conquistadors were busy planting hemp around the New World for use as clothing, rope and sails.)

Modern Catholic propaganda

Although the modern Catholic Church no longer [directly] engages in the widespread use of torture and murder to enforce their prohibition on marijuana and other useful herbs, they remain one of the world's leading voices in support of the global drug war.

Modern Catholic literature often repeats the most outrageous and inaccurate claims of anti-pot politicians. Catholic publications and Papal statements regularly claim that smoking pot leads to violence and criminality, that most marijuana users will move on to heroin, and that there is no difference between pot and more dangerous substances.

The Catholic Church's thousands of priests and bishops encourage their congregations to vote for prohibitionist politicians, and they collude with world governments to push the drug war philosophy. The Holy See's permanent observer to the United Nations, Archbishop Celestino Migliore, regularly calls for the UN to be more aggressive in the global drug war.

Dissent over the ages

Clearly, not all Catholics have supported their Church's war on cannabis. During the middle ages, the most famous Catholic voice in support of marijuana was a French monk and author named Rabelais (1495-1553).

Although Rabelais' classic books Gargantua and Pantagruel superficially appear to be merely a bawdy tale about a noble giant and his son, a deeper reading reveals a telling parody of Church and State, and contains many detailed and positive references to cannabis, which Rabelais dubbed "The Herb Pantagreulion" to avoid persecution.

Yet Rabelais still suffered for his written work in support of marijuana. He was harassed and persecuted by the Church, and the chapters that most specifically refer to marijuana (Book 3, chap 49-52) were banned by the Catholic Church. The power of this censorship has lasted for centuries, as even in many modern translations of Pantagruel these chapters are omitted.

In modern times, there are some Catholic priests and bishops that have spoken out in favor of medical pot, but not full decriminalization.

One example is Vermont Bishop Kenneth Angell, who in 2004 used his position to push for his state's successful passage of a law allowing for limited use of medical marijuana. However, Angell was clear that his support was only for the most serious of medical users, and that he and his church were firmly opposed to allowing any sort of non-medical use.

The Pope on coke

Although the Catholic Church has had a longstanding hatred for mind-expanding drugs, it has historically been more tolerant of stimulants. During the late 1800's, Pope Leo XIII publicly endorsed cocaine wine, and carried a personal hip flask to fortify himself. (He wasn't alone, as Sigmund Freud, Jules Verne, and Thomas Edison were all fans of the cocaine drink.)

And it was mere months after the 2nd time that the Pope summoned Coca-Wine entrepreneur Angelo Francois Mariani to the Vatican to award him a gold medal as a benefactor of humanity (1st it was Pope Leo XIII in January 1898, 2nd time was Pope Pius X in January 1904) that Vatican hatchet-men (Knights of Columbus/Knights of Malta members) Harvey Wiley of the USDA/AMA-APhA, and William Randolf Hearst began their massive campaign of yellow journalism to scare people about cocaine without regard to the concentration factor between dilute Coca preparations and highly concentrated cocaine. Almost three centuries earlier, in the early 1600's, coffee was first being introduced into Europe. Many Catholic priests opposed coffee use, as it was associated with Islam and Arab Muslims. The Bishops of Rome petitioned Pope Clement VIII to forbid coffee drinking, but after the Pope had a taste of the drink he declared the brew was "so delicious that it would be a pity to allow the Muslim infidels to have exclusive use of it." Legend has it that the Pope then baptized the coffee to make it truly a Christian beverage.

Sadly, Pope Clement VIII didn't ever get a chance to have a taste of cannabis, or maybe it could have also gotten his blessing and today pot use could be an accepted part of the Catholic faith.

Testifying to the influence of and/or the infiltration by the Roman Catholic Church, many 'Protestant's have been hoodwinked into supporting these criminal and immoral laws, and the myths that certain herbs, such as Marijuana are 'evil.'

Other religions on the drug war

The Catholic Church is hardly the only Christian institution to actively support the persecution of pot users. The vast majority of the globe's various Christian sects teach that using marijuana is both a sin and a crime.

At many periods in history, various Protestant religions have outdone the Catholic Church in their persecution of herbalists and cannabis users. Nevertheless, no other institution surpasses the Catholic Church in the duration, global reach and long-term devastation caused by their centuries of war against the herb culture.

Some religious organizations and modern spiritual leaders have spoken out against the drug war. The Boston-based Unitarian Univeralist church, with about 200,000 followers, has denounced the war on drugs and called for legal marijuana and an end to prohibition. The Presbyterian Church of USA, the Quakers and the Progressive Jewish Alliance are other religious groups that openly advocate the need for drug-policy reform.

Christ:

What would Jesus do?

Of course, the Bible does not teach against the use of herbs. In the book of Genesis, God declares that he has given humans "every herb bearing seed," and asserts that all of his creation is good.

In the New Testament, Jesus never specifically addresses the use of marijuana, but his view on prohibition and purity seem to be summed up in Matthew 15:11: "It's not what goes into a man's mouth which defiles him," said Jesus, "but rather that which comes out of it."

The apostle Paul also reinforces this idea in his writings. "Everything created by God is good," wrote Paul, "and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving." (1 Timothy, 4:4) In another book, Paul writes "I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself; but it is unclean for any one who thinks it unclean... For the kingdom of God is not food and drink but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit." (Romans 14:14,17)

With cocaine, it is man's refining it that makes it bad, and not its naturally occurring amounts in Coca leaves.

With Tobacco, it's the Virginia invented practices of breeding it to delete its psychedelic properties, and then its curing in ways to reduce its harshness that creates the addictive health threat of Virginia Bright Leaf cigarettes, with the despicable practice of adding chemicals to tremendously increase the burn rate, exacerbating health issues and causing countless fires, for the sake of increasing sales, all conspiring to produce the problem.

Jesus encouraged his followers to visit those in prison, minister to the poor and love their enemies. So while the Catholic Bishops gather to decide which geriatric virgin will lead the world's largest Church, let us hope they choose a man who will lead their global congregation towards true godliness, peace on earth and an end to worldwide drug war.
